Venues

We shoot at two venues. From April to September we shoot at our main venue at Ashington RFC but from October to March we shoot indoors at Newbiggin Leisure Centre. Please check the club calendar in the Events section to make sure you come to the correct venue. In the outdoor season we usually shoot on Saturday at 3pm and Thursday at 6pm, indoors we shoot on Saturday at 3pm and Monday at 7pm. Check the calendar in the Events section for scheduled practice shoots as these can change sometimes .

Ashington RFC is our outdoor venue. Practice sessions take place on the third pitch which isn't visible from the clubhouse so please consult the detailed site map if you are planning to come along for a practice and haven't shot here before. Competions take place on the second pitch which is right next to the clubhouse so you can't miss it. The clubhouse also has a bar, toilets and BBQ.

The gate to the rugby club is shown on this google map with this handy green arrow. As you can see its just off the A1068. Go through the green gates and follow the road into the grounds.

Parking is provided right next to the practice field for Disabled Archers. Please follow the route on the map below and don't drive on the pitch unless you want to play chase with the groundsmans rottweiler.

For practice sessions all other archers are asked to park at the clubhouse or in the rough ground between pitch #1 and the cricket pitch.

Newbiggin Leisure Center is our winter indoor venue and we'll shoot here from October-ish until the end of March. Shooting distances are limited to 25 yards but it's a large hall with plenty of space. Typical leisure centre facilities are available, bar, toilets, refreshments etc with good disabled access. Archery takes place in the main sports hall, so turn left at reception and follow the corridor down the slope. If archery is in progress you MUST NOT enter the hall whilst archers are shooting. Please wait a few minutes until you see us collecting arrows from the targets, alternatively you can go up the steps to the left of the main hall to the viewing area.
