Here is a collection of our favourite excuses heard from the shooting line.
- It's a round boss - I'm used to shooting on a square one.
- My scope was blurred.
- It's too windy.
- My new highland cow hat is interfering with my reference point.
- The cloud I was using as a sight mark has moved.
- My limbs were on upside-down.
- It's too hot.
- It's too cold.
- That was deliberate.
- I'm spreading the arrows around so I don't break them.
- I'm wearing moisturiser and the riser is slippy.
- I don't like shooting on the same boss as a compound/recurve/longbow archer.
- My eyes were shut when I released.
- I wasn't aiming at the gold.
- The tree in the background moved.
- A fly/wasp/insect landed on my riser/sight/string.
- The field isn't flat.
- The targets mustn't have been measured out properly.
- The lines on the grass aren't straight.
- The (round) boss isn't on straight.
- I heard a cough/sneeze/giggle/fart and got distracted.
- The lights are a funny colour.
- The target is futher away than it looks.
- I was looking at the clicker when I released.
- I was keeping the gold clear for someone else.
